The brief was to erect two birdcage crash deck scaffolds so the contractor could cut out large concrete slabs for the installation of new lifts and stairs. As the redevelopment is still ongoing, the scaffolds were required to provide a secure and dependable working platform for the early structural works.

Our Approach
Following the site requirements, our team erected both birdcage crash deck scaffolds in three days. The completed structures created safe working areas around the slab openings and gave the wider project team the access needed to continue the lift and stair installation works.
We assessed the internal mill spaces and the areas where the concrete slabs were being removed, then planned the two birdcage crash deck scaffolds to provide practical access around the planned lift and stair openings.
The scaffolds were erected to provide a stable crash deck and protected working environment while the large concrete slabs were cut out, giving the team a secure platform for the next stage of the redevelopment.
As the mill redevelopment progresses, the scaffolds can be adapted or repositioned to suit the next phases of the lift and stair installation.
Both structures were erected within the agreed three-day programme, leaving the work areas ready for the next trades and allowing the wider redevelopment works to continue.
