Project Overview
The mill redevelopment required two birdcage crash decks so a contractor could remove large concrete slabs for the new lift and stair openings. The structures needed to provide secure working platforms around the internal slab removals as the project progressed.

Our Approach
We erected both birdcage crash deck scaffolds in three days, creating protected working areas around the openings and access for the lift and stair installation team. For another Greater Manchester project involving complex access and phased work, see our demolition scaffolding in Swinton.
We assessed the internal mill spaces and slab-removal areas, then planned the birdcage scaffolds around the new lift and stair openings.
The crash decks provided stable working platforms around the slab openings while concrete was cut out, helping separate the access work from the next structural activities.
As the redevelopment moves forward, both scaffolds can be adjusted or repositioned for later lift and stair installation stages.
Both structures were erected within the agreed three-day programme, leaving the work areas ready for the next trades as the mill redevelopment continued.
Client Feedback
Can’t fault the scaffolds; they got done on time so works could continue.
